I've always been curious about VNC software and the ability to
control a remote computer. There are some unique advantages to this.
I just figured out how to set it up, which was very easy, and just
successfully connected to my office machine from my home laptop. This
allows for some very useful things. For example, it allows me to
simply monitor any extended processes on the office computer. I can
also access the local network through the computer and copy files to
FTP (which allows me to grab them from home via FTP) or a variety of
other tasks. While the response time of controlling the host computer
lags over broadband, it's tolerable when the only other choice is a
hop in the car and a 20 minute ride each way to the office!
