The "McGuyver" repair of the hinge on my laptop eventually let go after a few days, causing me to look online for a solution. I found a person selling a set of hinges on e-bay for $60! A couple days later, I received them and went to work. Rather than disassemble the whole laptop, I found a website that described how to install the hinges a simpler way. After about 15 minutes, I had the broken hinge replaced and have a second new hinge ready for the other side if it fails. After about a week of regular use, everything is great. I have a few scratches on the corner of the screen exterior from clips that kept it together, but nothing noticeable. Hooray!
