New DVD Burner:
I've spent the last week or so using a new external DVD burner I bought for $199 at http://macsales.com (my favorite Mac online vendor). My plans were to use it for making home movies and also as a backup option to replace CD-ROMs (which I used to carry around in my bag). Although the DVD media is more expensive (about a buck a disc), the capacity is much greater (4.4 GB vs 700 MB). I now think I can keep a handle on having projects backed up on a timely basis and also carry more with me (on fewer discs!). My experience so far with the drive has been great. While it has a rather large case, it fits in my bag since I don't have to carry around all those files on CD-ROM (over two dozen).
