Went with my wife to the musical "Sunday in the Park with George" this past week. For those not familiar, it's about Georges Seurat, the famous 19th century painter who created "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte". He's most famous for his pointillism technique. The show did a great job of showing his near-fanatical dedication to his craft. I think it was shared by most artists of the period, since a career in art was rare.
There was a poignant part where a character mentions how we leave behind "children and art" once we're gone. I've often said the same thing while getting philosophical with friends. I guess you could add architecture to that list too and maybe a few other things.
Most of the other crap we leave behind gets tossed or stored in an attic/basement somewhere!
